About
A long established society interested in promoting the history and heritage of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. All guides are volunteers, and live locally in the borough. All guides must undertake their training course and become accredited before undertaking a guided tour. As they operate as a not-for-profit group, theirwalks are very reasonably priced. As volunteers they promote an informal atmosphere and walkers can enjoy a relaxed stroll as opposed to feeling that they are on a conveyor belt. No need to pre-book; just turn up and pay on the day.
Richmond Heritage Guides organise a range of guided walks throughout the year. Their programme currently consists of regular walks around Richmond (from June-October) and special walks around Richmond, Ham, Teddington, Barnes, East Twickenham and St. Margarets (from February-November). Their regular walks are focused principally on the history of Richmond in its role as a place of royal residence.
Their special walks are mainly one-off events. They cover a variety of subjects in some detail and combine to give a flavour of the more common aspects of the area’s history.
They also offer private walks for groups wishing to incorporate a walk as part of a day out in the Borough. To discuss your requirements call Jane on 020 8894 3678 or Johanna on 020 8979 9670.
Please note that the Guides reserve the right to cancel any walk without notice in exceptional circumstances.
