Richmond upon Thames has a thriving community of small businesses including shops, food and drink outlets and other services that contribute to the unique high streets we have in the borough. Supporting your local businesses will ensure your high street maintains its character and uniqueness.

We have seen amazing community spirit during the COVID-19 pandemic and many local businesses were at the heart of this. The Council in partnership with VisitRichmond is celebrating the amazing contribution of the people who run these businesses by encouraging you to ‘Shop Local’ and explore the diverse and unique offering of products and services available on their doorsteps.

Spending money locally, and spending time getting to know your local businesses will ensure we maintain the strong communities and remain resilient as a borough during the on-going uncertainties.

Barnes

Barnes has a fascinating mix of unusual gifts, clothes and food shops interspersed with award winning cafés and restaurants, river walks and pubs, and a village duck pond.
East Sheen

East Sheen’s thriving high street has a range of popular and award winning independent and mainstream boutiques and shops, local pubs, restaurants, cafés and delis.
Richmond Bridge

A real gem just over the bridge from Richmond’s busy town centre, with cafes, restaurants and a range of specialist destination shops.
Ham

Ham Parade covers just about every need of the community. On the first Saturday of the month there is the Ham Parade Market with artisan goods and fresh food.

When you arrive at Kew Gardens station, you are greeted with one of the most attractive shopping areas in London. A wide range of independent shops, restaurants and cafés sit in the heart of the village.

Richmond has several attractions, including Richmond Park, Little Lanes and Richmond Hill. The many unique independent shops and excellent leisure and cultural activities attract thousands of visitors every year.

Teddington is a vibrant suburb with two main shopping areas. The High Street consisting largely of independents, while Broad Street has local and high-street favourites.
Twickenham

Twickenham town centre has a mix of independent and chain retailers. The famous Church Street is a beautiful pedestrianised street full of independent shops and eateries.

Whitton town centre is a traditional and authentic ‘1930s’ high street with a healthy mix of quality independent shops and cafés/restaurants, and some quality multiples providing a friendly and personal service.
