A talk by Cheryl Robson about the campaign to erect a statue of Virginia Woolf in Richmond followed by an abridged version of Lucy Stevens one-woman show Virginia Woolf: Killing the Angel.

Acclaimed one-woman play with music that weaves the life and writing of Virginia Woolf with songs by British women composers who were Woolf's contemporaries including Ethel Smyth, Liza Lehmann and Rebecca Clarke.

Revealing Virginia's troubled childhood, her views on literature, the Bloomsbury group and the challenges women artists face. This fascinating evening is performed by gifted actor-singer Lucy Stevens and pianist Elizabeth Marcus.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
LUCY STEVENS is an actor, classical singer and theatre-maker. She studied acting at Rose Bruford College of Speech & Drama and voice at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. Lucy creates new small-scale theatre productions in which music, song and the spoken word weave seamlessly through text drawn from autobiographical writings. Lucy and pianist Elizabeth Marcus, have toured Virginia Woolf: Killing the Angel, Ethel Smyth: Grasp the Nettle and Kathleen Ferrier Whattalife! throughout the UK and internationally, as well as featured on BBC 2, BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 4.
