Louis Lodder Dectet

About

Join us for an exciting evening of live jazz at The Jazz Sanctuary! Get ready to experience the big sound of Louis Lodder's Dectet on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 19:45 GMT.

Louis Lodder is a young pianist, composer, and arranger who, growing up in Hackney, was surrounded by floods of contemporary jazz. At a young age, Louis' unique voice was nurtured by incredible London piano players Bruno Heinen and Olly Chalk. Their groundbreaking work as band leaders inspired him to assemble his own outfits, performing with his quintet, recording with his trio, and most recently tackling the compositional feat of writing for Dectet. Since beginning his studies at Trinity Laban he's been breaking into the world of arranging through the mentorship of Hans Koller which led to writing for Tony Kofi's 'Monk Band'.

This exciting new project is a culmination of Louis' influences old and new, from the vast discography of Keith Jarrett to the textural blueprint of Bob Brookmeyer. Through this musical lens, he has arranged the visceral music of Ornette Coleman which will be debuted at the Jazz Sanctuary following their sold-out show at the MAP Cafe.
