People looking at a pond and trees

About

This walk aims to give those living with dementia and those supporting or caring for anyone living with dementia an opportunity to explore nature in a small group. During the walk participants will learn about the history and ecology of Barnes Common and the work that we do to protect it. There will be regular stops and some sensory linked activities. The pace of the walk will be slow and relaxed and people can chat and socialise throughout. After the walk we will sit and chat with a cup of tea or coffee at Vine Road Recreation Ground.

General information:

The walk is approximately 500-600m in total. Most of the walk is unpaved but care will be taken during the walk and in the pre-planning to avoid trip hazards.
The walk will last about 60 minutes
Wear appropriate footwear and clothing for walking in a wooded area
The activity leader will be comfortable leading groups of people but they cannot act as carers or support workers.
