I MET GOD, SHE'S AN ATHEIST!

Religion and Spirituality in the Modern World

Despite the discrediting of many religious tenets in a modern age, an appetite for a spiritual dimension to life surprisingly persists. And while few people are bothered about the salvation of their immortal souls, even less wish to live in a world without soul.

Can there be life for religion or spirituality beyond theistic assertions of divinity? Can we evolve communities of soulful companionship beyond religious and secular dogma? And can a reconfigured approach to faith contribute usefully toward a more inhabitable, more humane social and spiritual world?

These are the kind of questions Dave Tomlinson is going to explore.

Dave is an Anglican priest, chaplain to St Ethelburga's Centre for Reconciliation & Peace, and holds a master's degree in modern hermeneutics. He is author of many books including The PostEvangelical, How to be a Bad Christian and a Better Human Being, Black Sheep & Prodigals, and his latest, OMG! A Bad Christian's Book of Prayers. He regularly speaks on 'Pause for Thought' on Radio 2's Breakfast Show with Zoe Ball, and hosts 'The Holy Shed' a video podcast. Dave and his wife Pat are passionate supporters of Liverpool FC.
