About

To celebrate Apple Day and all things Autumn, we invite you to join us for our annual Autumn Fayre, a community event for all.

We've planned a day full of fun!

Apple celebration - Bring your apples for juicing in our traditional apple presser. Don't worry if you don't have an apple tree, we'll have apples available for you!

Family activities - Families can enjoy a nature based walk and activities suitable for 3-9 year olds on Barnes Common at the Yaffles Family Nature Club walk from 10.30-12.00. Book your tickets here.

Local organisations the Mortlake Community Association will have crafts for children and the AfC's YES bus will be visiting with activities for children and young people.

Natural Crafts - We have a woodcraft activity with the fabulous Ellie from Wood Wool Willow.

Pumpkin decorating - Come and visit the Community Growing team in the polytunnel, and have a go at crafting a pumpkin! There will be lots of different crafting materials to choose from - come along and get creative!

Nature table - Find out about the local wildlife and flora at our nature table, staffed by our expert team.

Famed entomologist Richard 'Bugman' Jones and earthworm expert James Skillicorn will be hosting stalls with bug hunts and creating wormeries.

Fungi Walks - If you're looking for a learning experience, join internationally regarded botanist, Dr Mark Spencer for a fungi walk on Barnes Common at 10.30am or 2.00pm. Book your morning tickets here and your afternoon tickets here.

Play Conkers! - Feeling competitive? The conker competition is for you. Register on the day and bring your own conker or borrow ours. This years competition will be in the form of mini games. Test your skill to get to the top of the leader board! Adult and U14 categories with prizes for U14 winners.

Our important machines - Fascinated by agricultural machinery? Our tractor and Gator will be at the event - you may even sit in the operator's seat if you like.

Pizza, cakes and snacks - Delighted to welcome The Dough Shack who will sell pizzas from 12:30 to 2:30pm. The Vine Road Community Café will be open all day serving hot and cold drinks and snacks. We'll have homemade cakes for sale at our bake sale.
