About
25 November
Late autumn is a wonderful time to capture the glorious end-of-year light and flex your creative muscles.
Days are shorter and the weather is constantly shifting from shimmering sunshine to heavy clouds, rain, mist, and fog. It is a perfect time of year to make the most of the low angle of the sun and the ever-changing light.
We explore ways to photograph in a variety of lower and less forgiving light conditions and to adjust camera settings to make the most of creative possibilities. This includes metering, creative exposure, and how to over and under-expose our images with exposure compensation to enhance the prevailing light.
Light direction plays a key role in bringing out texture and finer details and we look at how to use side and backlighting for added impact. We also explore colour temperature and camera white balance and how we can fine-tune camera settings to optimise the light and add creative impact.
Camera filters are very useful, and we touch on how to use a polarising filter to reduce glare and boost saturation to further enhance our images.
This workshop is ideal for all levels of photography. Each day is a mixture of classroom learning with outdoor hands-on practice and plenty of time for 1-2-1 tuition. Content details will be tailored to the specific interests and experiences of the course attendees on the day.
Please bring your camera with fully charged batteries and formatted memory cards. A standard mid-range zoom lens is perfect and if you have a longer lens as well bring it along. if you have a polarising filter do bring it along.
