This "Ecosystem Restoration Mural" (aka "N6tur3") is a pledge to protect local biodiversity and freshwater ecosystems in urban settings. The mural marks the 10th piece in the global #EcosystemRestorationMurals series created by Street Art for Mankind (SAM) in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The mural's purpose is to start a conversation with the public and unite all energies around the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration goal, a global effort to reverse climate change and biodiversity loss by 2030.
This 4,000-square-foot mural, created by artist Vesod and curated by SAM in Twickenham, London, is a striking fusion of futurism and classical art, envisioning a world where cities and nature thrive in harmony. At its heart stands an anthropomorphic willow tree, a keystone species in the local ecosystem, surrounded by regional wildlife that underscores humanity's deep connection to nature. The transformation of London into a flowing river pays homage to local waterways like the Thames and Crane, emphasizing the urgent need to restore and protect river habitats increasingly at risk due to human activity.
"Ecosystem Restoration" was made possible thanks to the generous support of E.ON, a funding partner of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, and Regal House, who supported the initiative and donated their wall.
