The Stern-Michelhams at Strawberry Hill House: An Itinerant Collection

Presented by Constance Booker, PhD Candidate at Durham University

Thursday 2 November at 10.30am, Doors open at 10.15am.

Strawberry Hill House is perhaps best known for its illustrious first owner Horace Walpole, however, this talk will explore two equally fascinating individuals who resided at the House at the turn of the twentieth century: Herbert Stern, 1st Baron Michelham of Hellingly (1851-1919) and Lady Michelham, Aimee Geraldine Bradshaw (1881-1927).

The Talk will be followed by a guided tour of the famous drawing room in the Waldegrave Wing where the Michelhams displayed part of their prized collection of art treasures.
