Rag rug Christmas trees

About

Join us for a winter morning of creativity and learn how to make a quirky vintage inspired Christmas tree out of hessian and upcycled fabrics using the traditional craft of rag rugging.

With an old-fashioned rag rugging tool, hessian and a combination of t-shirt material, old silks, ribbon and lots of other fabrics, you'll design and make an everlasting Christmas tree (approximately 20cm tall), that you can use every year.

During the workshop we'll introduce you to the age-old technique of shaggy rag rugging and also teach you how to cut the fabric strips, bind edges and finish your tree.

If you'd like to make a tree in a particular colour scheme, just let us know in advance and we'll do our best to find appropriate fabrics.

The class is suitable for both beginners and people who've done some rag rugging before.

All materials and use of tools are included (though of course you're welcome to bring any fabrics and decorations of your own too), together with refreshments.

If you've been bitten by the rag rugging bug, then tools will be available to purchase at the end of the workshop.

The class will be run by Ann and Catherine from Handmade Workshops.

"I enjoyed every minute of the workshop. Therapeutic for me!"
