Gothic Book Club - Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

About

Join us to discuss Wuthering Heights; a novel about the passionate love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff. Bronte writes with such emotional intensity that a plain tale of the Yorkshire moors acquires the depth and simplicity of ancient tragedy. It is a story about ill-fated love and a journey down a dark path of betrayal revenge and brutality. Controversial at the time it was written it challenged Victorian views of morality, religion, class, and gender, and provided an unusually blunt portrayal of mental and physical cruelty.
