Pink and blue book with stitching

About

In this fun and relaxing day of bookbinding with professional bookbinder Mylyn McColl, you'll learn a variation of long stitch binding and make yourself a beautiful and unique handmade book!

This wonderful book structure lays flat, making it great for sketching and writing.

Under Mylyn's expert guidance, you'll prepare your pages, create a beautiful case using decorative papers and bookcloth and then produce an intricate set of holes, before attaching everything together with this highly decorative criss cross stitch and multiple coloured threads.

With step by step instructions and demonstrations, you'll be guided through each process of this heritage craft and shown how to use traditional tools of the trade.

At the end of the day you'll go home with your own stylish notebook and the skills and confidence to make more.

All tools and materials are provided, including a great range of decorative papers to choose from, but feel free to bring any papers of your own that you'd like to use.

We'll be serving lots of tea, coffee and cake throughout the day and there will be a break for lunch, when you can either eat a packed lunch or treat yourself at one of the many cafes in Teddington.

Please bring an apron with you.

The workshop is suitable for both beginners and also people with some prior knowledge of book binding.

Mylyn McColl is a multi-award winning professional bookbinder and very experienced, popular teacher.
