About

Are you keen to take your knitting beyond basic knit and purl stitches?

This workshop is ideal as both a progression for people who have attended one of our Try Knitting! classes and also for those with just a little experience of knitting or who feel very rusty, who want to gain more confidence in their technique.

We'll start off with revision of the basics – casting on, knit stitch, purl and casting off, before teaching you how to increase and decrease, together with a few trouble shooting techniques – how to pick up dropped stitches and take your work back. We'll then start you off on a small, fun project to practise your skills and introduce you to the language of knitting patterns.

If you'd like some more tuition and support, but would rather work on your own pattern, why not bring that along instead?

Materials and pattern are included, just bring along some 6mm needles. We'll also give you wine or hot drinks to help your learning!

This workshop will be taught by Catherine and Ann from Handmade Workshops.

"absolutely loved this workshop. I learnt so much and I now feel confident using a pattern"

"very good to advance my skills. Kind and patient teachers who are good at what they do!"
