About
The Antonio Forcione Quartet are delighted to be invited back to perform at The Exchange after performing and wowing audiences at sell out concerts all over the world. They have consistently received 5-star reviews year after year at the Edinburgh Festival. This is a truly international line-up with Jenny Adejayan from Nigeria/Grenada/UK, Jansen Santana and Matheus Nova from Brazil and Antonio Forcione from Italy. Between them they have performed with some of the biggest names in both the pop and jazz world, done countless tours, charity concerts, workshops and albums.
The pieces performed by the Quartet are from Forcione's prolific compositions as well as a mixture of rearranged classics but Dave Brubeck, The Police, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and many others. There is an imaginative and joyful synthesis – a world class band with spectacular technique and rich composition who have developed a unique, powerful and exotic sound.
With a unique blend of jazz, Latin, African, and flamenco sounds, they have captivated audiences across the globe with their passionate and innovative performances. Forcione & guitar playing has been described as "ferocious, rampaging, controlled power"; and "mesmerizing", while Santana is a multi-instrumentalist and dedicated musician whose influences stem from the music of his hometown in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Jenny Adejayan is a London-born cellist of Nigerian/Grenadian descent who has collaborated with numerous artists over the years from Sir Tom Jones and Courtney Pine to Nitin Sawhney and Emil Sande. Together, the Antonio Forcione Quartet delivers a touch of magic and a celebration of unexpected elements in life with delicacy, humour, and passion.
