The first formal minutes of the British Cabinet date from 9 December 1916. This important innovation, introduced by Prime Minister David Lloyd George, was a departure from the disorder of past governments, and resulted in the immediate transformation and revolution in the operation of the government machine.
In this illustrated talk, Contemporary Specialist Mark Dunton looks at the whirlwind of reforms that Lloyd George introduced and goes on to explore some of the riches of the Cabinet Papers from 1916 to 2003.
