About
You are invited to join our free monthly training sessions to learn more about growing food in harmony with nature. The sessions will introduce you to seasonal topics such as seed sowing, looking after seedlings, and seed saving. We will also introduce the approaches to growing food that are used at the Vine Road Community Growing Project, such as managing soil health through no-dig, composting and water-wise gardening. The sessions provide a practical and supportive way to build skills and confidence in growing your own food. Come and get your hands dirty!
Sessions run at our polytunnel at Vine Road Park every 3rd Saturday of the month from 10am to midday (see exceptions on the calendar), with a new topic each month.
August 17th: Dealing with crop pests naturally
All the care and effort put into growing food crops can go to waste if we don't take steps to protect plants from common pests. At the Vine Road Community Growing Project we aim to be regenerative and organic, so we do not use pesticides as this can disturb the fragile ecosystem. In this month's session we will look at how to prevent common pests, and how to tackle them using natural methods.
